"Sowing the Seeds of Trouble"... Here we have Dr.
Regina Bushroot...Before. As in, as a full duck. In this scene, she is, as you
can see, setting up the experiment that will (although she doesn't _know_ it)
throw her bodily into the plant kingdom--and out of society forever. Oh,
dear...
Now, the original duck Reggie was _bald_, so how to make a girl look like him,
considering that women usually don't go bald like that? The answer came to me
one day--give her a frumpy, losery-looking hairstyle, and it'll be more or less
the same basic _feeling_. Notice that her _eyes_ are definitely Reggie's,
especially the expression. Awww... As for the rest of it, I'm perfectly
_aware_ that Reggie did _his_ experiment while it was daylight, but hey! You
think I'm gonna draw a classic full out Mad Scientist picture and NOT have it
take place during a Dark and Stormy Night? Yeah right! ;) (And speaking of
classic cheesy old-movie style looks, click HERE
to see a black and white version of the above. I just couldn't resist...)
This is the third of the "Before They Were Supervillainesses" Switchverse
pictures, and if you look at all three, you'll soon realise that they all have
this sort of..._ominousness_ to them--while showing their original "normal" self,
I also foreshadow what's going to happen to them shortly, either in the background
or in the whole picture itself (as with this one). That was very much on purpose,
that feeling of...darkness...because, after all, what happens to Elmyra Sputterspark,
Dr. Regina Bushroot, and Bunny Flood is _not_ pleasant, is it? Also, hey. These
are _villians_. Darkness is just appropriate on general principles. ;)
