"HEEEEEEYYYYY....YOOOOOUUUUUUUUU....GUUUUUUUYYYYYYSSSSSSSS!!!!!!" (I couldn't
resist. ;)) This picture takes a bit of explaining...well, you see, I post on
this Sonic the Hedgehog messageboard, and one of the people there put out a
request one day--she asked if anybody could draw her fan-character, Aura Starfire,
as "using one of her powers". Aura's powers are fire, lightning, and teleportation,
for the record. Well, _I_ instantly leapt in with "Lightning! WHOO! Yeah! I
can do that!" (I mean, heck, if I'm not used to drawing electrical powers by _now_,
what with all my pictures of Megavolt (in different forms) not to mention the occasional
drawing of Lum or Sailor Jupiter...then I _never will_ be used to it.) But then I told her,
"I don't know if I'll be able to restrain myself from making it a crossover picture and putting
in OTHER electrical characters WITH her..."
Her response was: "Well, she's a dimensional traveller too, so go ahead! The more the merrier!"
BWAHAHA.
She asked for it! And she got...THIS! >:) I just squished as many electrical characters as I could in
there--mostly fan-made, but a couple canon, simply because I wanted to represent more universes and
I just don't KNOW that many fan-characters. Anyway, from left to right, we have:
--Dr. Electra Ampere Farad and, on her shoulder, Zippy the Wonderpest! (I just
recently read the stories with these two for the first time, and LOVED them to
pieces...but I can't get ahold of the author to tell her how much I loved them,
because all her e-mail addresses are dead. So I decided to do the next best
thing--_draw_ her characters, as a tribute. If any of the crew from "High
Voltage Studios" sees this...take it as a compliment! :))
--Behind them: Sailor Jupiter, of course! ;)
--Next to Dr. Farad: Electra the Hedgehog. (Yes, I DID put the two Electras next to each other on purpose. Notice
they're also _looking_ at each other.) This is my own character, the first Sonic universe character I ever made up. I
made her up in 1996 and started watching Darkwing in _2002_, so the fact that she is an electrically-powered rodent with a
yellow-and-blue colour scheme is TOTAL COINCIDENCE. Honest. Anyway, she only appears in one finished story of mine, "Shadows
of the Future", but also shows up in a couple unfinished ones, and has been around for a while. Her electrical powers are really
very limited. I mean, if she tried using them in front of Megavolt, he'd laugh in her face, I'm not kidding. :P She is holding
a book about ancient cities because that's her main interest--she wants to be an archaeologist.
--Next we have Aura Starfire, the star of our show! :P Well, she's the one I was actually ASKED to draw, anyway. I don't know if
she should really be quite as _short_ as I drew her here, but hey. Amusing fact: One of her nicknames is Sparky. Yes. SPARKY. I kid you not.
--Behind her: Lum, from Urusei Yatsura. I have NO idea why she's doing bunny-ears behind (my) Electra's head; it just seemed like
a funny idea at the time. ("The time" being 3:30 in the morning. of course.)
--And last but not least, Gigawatt! I was originally going to use Megsy in the picture, but then decided to go with his Switchverse
counterpart in order to keep the all-female theme going. Actually, we ended up with even _more_ of a feminist theme than I had originally
planned: Not only are all these characters females, but they were all CREATED by females. I was almost tempted to name this picture--wait
for it:
Girl POWER.
