"Ah, a supervillianess's work is never done."Third
in the "Switchverse" series; here we see Elmyra "Gigawatt" Sputterspark in
_her_ element! ;) She's got the same long brown hair that Megavolt USED to
have; it's fried but it's still there. The reason being, I'm guessing that
not ALL of his hair-loss was due to electricity--some of it might just be
male-pattern baldness. (He IS middle-aged, right? Well...in his mid-to-late
'30s, anyway. By my reckoning, both he and Darkwing are about 35 when the show
starts, and 37 by the end. Old enough for _some_ guys to lose their hair,
anyway.) Well, obviously a woman wouldn't (normally) have THAT problem. Also
notice the backwards colour scheme--which I really did only to be different,
not to say that she's a "Nega" version of him or anything.
I spent forever drawing this lair, and I think it REALLY fits Megavolt...and
since Gigs _is_ him, only female, that is appropriate. Notice the giant light
bulb--I went and got a real light bulb and figured out what the inside looked
like by holding it up to another bulb that was on. This hurt my eyes. I also
got the fingers right on the handle that is holding:
(Negaduck voice)
_the switch_
--by twisting my own hand around backwards to try to look at it from that angle.
Ah, yes. Better Artwork Through Self-Injury. :P Some people practice method
acting, I practice method-drawing. Whatever. At any rate, with a mysterious
computer panel full of colourful blinky buttons and interesting levers,
electrical cords all over the place, a giant light bulb, and:
_the switch_
--I think Megavolt himself would be PROUD of his "sister". That is, if he
could even remember where he is or what he's doing at the moment.
The name "Gigawatt" wasn't just "I think I'll pick another electrical word at
random", it has quite the thought-process behind it. It goes like this:
I, at least, always think about the movie Back to the Future, when I hear the
word "gigawatt". (Doc Brown shrieking, "ONE POINT TWENTY ONE GIGAWATTS?!!").
In the Back to the Future _cartoon_, Doc's voice was played by Dan Castelleneta,
who, of course, played Megavolt himself on Darkwing Duck! So it ties around
rather cleverly, I think.
Frankly, I have no idea at all what will happen when Gigs throws:
_the switch_
--but I think it might not be a good idea to stick around and find out; don't
you? ;)
The font I used for both her and Megavolt's names is the Harry Potter font--for
those of you who were thinking it looked familiar! Hey. Lightning-bolt
letters, are lightning-bolt letters. :)
And HERE is a black and white version of the above.
Because _all_ mad scientists should be shown this way, sooner or later. :) (Also,
I think this particular "lair" looks like something out of Captain Proton!,
almost...)
