"Trouble Cubed!" My first piece of Quack Pack fan-art, and after only watching the show for less than a week, too. The characters depicted are also in
DuckTales, though, so it goes in that category as well...
Anyway, meet the characters who are, in my opinion, the main reason to watch Quack Pack--the TEENAGED versions of Huey, Dewey, and Louie! The fact that they were allowed to age in the
FIRST place is truly excellent, exponential and extreme (as they would say)--I mean, cartoon characters? AGE?! DISNEY cartoon characters?!--but not only that, but they're well-written.
They're definitely teenagers, but also definitely still have their old personalities. This was drawn for the August 2002 Detamina Awards--as far as I know they've never actually had
a rock band (but it would NOT at all surprise me), but I would've drawn them doing SOMEthing, I'm sure. I CANNOT like characters this much without drawing them sooner or later...
The Detaminas just gave me a theme to work with. Heh. I gave each of them the instrument that I feel best suits their personality--Huey, the "leader", who wears the flashiest, loudest colour--red
--plays the loud, flashy, lead guitar (which is of course also red. ;)) Dewey, the "brain", is playing the keyboards, as I've always felt keyboards are a more "brainy" kind of instrument. (They require
dexterity and being able to keep your mind on several things at once, much more than strength or endurance.) And last but not least, patient, faithful Louie, always in the rear, always thought of last,
always backing up and supporting the others from behind (when he FEELS like it)...of course, has to provide their backbeat, on the drums.
Probably you had already figured OUT why I had each of them playing what they are, but I felt like saying it anyway. :P As for their outfits and hairstyles, I modified them just slightly to make
them look a little more "rock-star-ish" (yes, I KNOW that Dewey doesn't have a braid...) but otherwise more or less left them alone.
The name of the band is "Trouble to the Third Power" and it fits them
PRETTY damn well...one of them alone is formidable, but when they JOIN forces,
whoah-hoah, look out, world! Back on DuckTales, as ten year olds, they did
things like lose all of Scrooge's fortune in like one DAY and one time they
had the entire world thinking it was Saturday instead of Friday, which, as a
side-effect, almost got Scrooge and Fenton executed!
But that's piddly stuff. Small change. As teenagers, they once accidentally brought about the destruction of the UNIVERSE! No, I'm not kidding.
They DID eventually put it back how they found it... At any rate, these terrorising teenaged triplets are trouble cubed, indeed!
Edit: (September 3, 2002) This picture won third place in the Detamina Awards for August! (Well, I suppose "three" is appropriate, somehow...) :P
